Technical Assistant, Birch Hill Vineyard

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our growing team at Birch Hill Vineyard located in the beautiful Wairau Valley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a high performing team to deliver exceptional quality fruit for the making of some of the world’s most sought-after wines.

What you’ll be doing

• Technical data collection including: vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.


• Regular vine monitoring and reporting on pest and disease, phenology, vine nutrition, irrigation


• Training and leading seasonal labour throughout the year ensuring all work is done to the required standards


• Hands-on vineyard maintenance and irrigation management


• Machinery Operations 

What you’ll bring

• Have a tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture and at least 3 years’ industry experience 


• You’ll love working outdoors and be physically fit to perform the duties


• You’re motivated to learn new skills and excited about the prospect of working in a high performing team 


• A clean driver’s license


• A good eye for detail and naturally takes pride in your work


• A strong communicator with a positive attitude
