Trade Assistant

Babcock is looking for a Trade Assistant to join the Fabrication team based in Devonport, Auckland.

• $30 per hour


• 1.5x paid after 40hrs


• 2x paid after 43hrs

About you

You are a skilled tradie who thrives in a hands-on environment. You take pride in precision, safety, and delivering top-quality work. You’re confident with welding, cutting, and reading technical drawings, and you bring a proactive attitude to every project. You work well in a team, communicate clearly, and adapt to changing priorities. Your commitment to craftsmanship and reliability makes you the go-to person for getting the job done right.

Key Required Skills

• MIG/TIG welding proficiency


• Metal cutting and shaping techniques


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings


• Use of fabrication machinery and hand tools


• Strong attention to detail


• Problem-solving in workshop settings


• Adherence to health and safety standards


• Teamwork and communication skills

Key Required Qualifications

• Trade certification in fabrication or welding highly regarded


• Relevant apprenticeship or equivalent experience


• Knowledge of workshop safety regulations


• Ability to operate welding and cutting equipment
