Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e. human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.
About the role | Mō te tūranga:
We are looking for a Trainee or Phlebotomist to join our Patient Services Department across the Wairarapa region on a casual basis. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care and specimen collection services, making a meaningful difference in our community. This role involves working across the wider Wairarapa region, including South Wairarapa, on an as-required basis.
The position requires flexibility to work across both weekdays and weekends, depending on service needs. We offer flexible hours across full-time and part-time arrangements to suit different lifestyles. Please note, these roles are not suitable for students, as the hours generally do not align with study commitments.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
If you are not currently registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, we will support the successful candidate to work towards registration and qualification as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within two years of employment.
If you are currently working towards your qualification or registration, you will also be considered for this role.
