Market Data Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Market Data Specialist to join our client's IT team in Muscat. This role is responsible for managing, governing, and optimising the Bank’s market data services across all business units.

You will play a critical role in ensuring market data is accurately sourced, cost-efficiently managed, and used in full compliance with vendor licensing agreements. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with leading global data providers and contribute to enterprise-wide data strategy and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Market Data Vendor & Contract Management

• Act as the primary relationship owner for global market data vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, exchanges, rating agencies, and news providers)
• Manage vendor contracts, renewals, amendments, and licensing agreements
• Oversee subscriptions, user access, entitlements, and permissions

Data Quality, Compliance & Governance

• Monitor and ensure the integrity, availability, and accuracy of market data
• Ensure compliance with vendor licensing terms and usage policies
• Track user consumption and proactively align usage with entitled services
• Support and coordinate vendor audits and remediation activities
• Identify opportunities to optimise costs and licensing structures

Platform & Feed Management

• Administer enterprise market data platforms (e.g. Bloomberg B-PIPE, BDL, Refinitiv EMS)
• Lead onboarding of new data feeds and services in collaboration with internal teams and vendors
• Produce and maintain accurate usage and compliance reporting

Controls & Optimisation

• Conduct periodic reviews and recertification of market data services
• Identify unused or underutilised subscriptions and implement optimisation plans
• Drive continuous improvement in data governance and cost efficiency

Projects & Documentation

• Support key technology and transformation initiatives (CTB/RTB), including system implementations
• Maintain clear documentation, knowledge base materials, and user guidance for market data services

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
• Postgraduate qualification in Finance, Financial Engineering, or Data Analytics is an advantage.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in market data, financial markets, or banking IT.
• Solid knowledge of primary market data providers and their key services, including Bloomberg (B-Pipe, BDL, Terminal), Refinitiv (EMS, DSS, Eikon), and Quanthouse.
• Sound understanding of financial markets, exchange operations, primary financial instruments, and key index types.
• Demonstrated experience in large-scale IT projects and system implementations is an advantage.

Contract until the end of the year.
