The Conveyancing Legal Assistant will support file handlers and conveyancers by preparing and reviewing legal documents, drafting client and agent correspondence, and ensuring files progress according to strict checklists and timelines. This role requires strong written English, confidence with Microsoft Word templates, and prior Australian legal/document experience. TriConvey training will be provided; candidates must work AEST business hours to overlap with file handlers.
Key responsibilities
Draft, proofread, and format legal letters, client/agent correspondence, and settlement documents using precedents and templates in Microsoft Word.
Prepare and collate documents for execution and lodgement, ensuring accuracy and completeness for signing and settlement.
Follow structured file management processes, checklists, and quality-control steps precisely.
Liaise professionally with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and internal file handlers during AEST hours.
Maintain strict confidentiality of client, financial, and identity data.
Learn and use cloud-based matter-management systems (TriConvey) and support PEXA/electronic settlement workflows where applicable.
Flag issues promptly and escalate according to procedure.
Nice to Have:
Experience on the TriConvey platform.
Australian conveyancing experience, Victorian especially.
Familiarity with Australian property and conveyancing terminology, e.g. Section 32 vendor statements, Section 27 (release of deposit), discharge of mortgage, transfer of land, settlement adjustments, GST treatment.
Exposure to PEXA or electronic settlement workflows.
Prior experience drafting agent and client correspondence.
