Job Description

Inviting applications for the role of Linux Systems Engineer!

 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Linux Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and improve our Linux-based infrastructure. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience with Linux systems, servers, and core IT operations while working alongside senior engineers in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers (physical and virtual)
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security, escalating issues when necessary
• Perform routine system administration tasks such as user management, permissions, patching, and backups
• Troubleshoot basic system, network, and application issues
• Support automation efforts through scripting (e.g., Bash, Python)
• Maintain system documentation and operational procedures
• Assist with deployments, upgrades, and system changes
• Collaborate with senior engineers on infrastructure projects
• Basic understanding of patching methodology

 

Qualifications we seek in you!

Required Technical Skills/Minimum Qualification

• Basic to intermediate Linux knowledge (ALMALinux, RHEL)
• Understanding of Linux processes, file systems, permissions, and services
• Fundamental networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP)
• Basic scripting skills (Bash preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

• Familiarity with automation tools (Ansible or Python)

• Exposure to endpoint management tools 

• Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions (CommVault)

• Monitoring and logging tools experience (Splunk or Graphana)

• Linux certifications such as Linux+ or RHCSA 

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Eager to learn and grow

• Detail-oriented and reliable

• Strong sense of ownership and accountability

• Team player with a customer-focused mindset

• Ability to manage multiple priorities
