Head of Manila Development Center

Purpose

This role will lead Power Integrations’ Manila Development Center as the company’s primary hub for Product Definition, Product Applications and Technical Capability Development. This role ensures Manila operates as a high-impact, application-driven organization that translates customer and system requirements into product direction while building deep technical capability and enabling seamless execution across Business Units and global development teams.

Core Responsibilities

Product Definition & Applications Leadership

• Establish Manila as the center of excellence for:
  • Product definition (NPD/roadmap inputs)
  • System and product applications engineering
• Ensure strong connection to customer use-cases and system-level requirements
• Drive high-quality, consistent product requirement definition across BUs

Technical Capability Development (Critical Accountability)

• Own development of deep technical capability across the site, including:
  • System-level architecture understanding
  • Power electronics fundamentals
  • Application engineering excellence
• Build structured development mechanisms:
  • Training frameworks by role/level
  • Mentorship and apprenticeship models
  • Cross-BU exposure to real customer problems
• Elevate:
  • Technical judgment
  • Design trade-off capability
  • Problem-solving rigor
• Establish Manila as a technical talent engine, not just an execution site

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead and develop local leaders across:
  • Product definition (System/NPD teams)
  • Product and system applications
  • Supporting engineering functions
• Build a strong leadership bench with:
  • Clear accountability
  • Succession planning
• Develop future technical and product leaders for the company

Matrix Integration & Alignment

• Ensure strong alignment between Manila teams and:
  • Business Units (portfolio & roadmap ownership)
  • Product Development & IC Design teams (execution)
• Operate effectively in a matrixed model:
  • Solid-line local leadership
  • Dotted-line functional/BU alignment
• Resolve:
  • Priority conflicts
  • Resource allocation challenges
  • Gaps between definition and execution

Execution & Operational Excellence

• Drive predictable, high-quality execution across:
  • Product definition cycles
  • Application deliverables
  • Design-in readiness
• Establish operating mechanisms for:
  • Cross-team coordination
  • Milestone tracking
  • Issue resolution
• Ensure alignment with global development processes

Site Leadership & Global Interface

• Own overall performance and health of the Manila site
• Serve as primary interface to global leadership
• Ensure clear communication of:
  • Priorities
  • Risks
  • Resource needs
• Enable effective collaboration across regions

Scope & Operating Model

• Manila is primarily a Product Definition and Applications center
• IC design presence is supporting, not core to the site mission
• Teams operate in a matrixed structure:
  • Local reporting into this role
  • Functional alignment to BU and engineering leaders
• This role does not own product P&L or roadmap decisions, but ensures high-quality inputs into them

Ideal Profile

• 10 years of experience in leading and developing teams and recruiting strong technical talent
• 15 years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor's degree in electronics engineering or related program, master's degree preferred
• Strong background in:
  • Product definition/system engineering
  • Applications engineering in power electronics
• Proven experience:
  • Leading multi-functional engineering teams
  • Operating in a matrixed global organization
• Demonstrated ability to:
  • Develop technical talent
  • Scale organizations
  • Improve execution discipline
• Strong system-level thinking and customer orientation
• Ability to influence without direct authority
