EHS Improvement Specialist


 


What this role is about: 


The EHS Improvement Specialist is responsible for implementing and sustaining workplace organization through 5S and 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles while ensuring compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. This role promotes a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment and drives continuous improvement initiatives across operations.Key responsibilities include identifying improvement opportunities, standardizing processes, and engaging cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives


 


As the EHS Improvement Specialist in the area of GSC, you are responsible for:


 


5S3R & Continuous Improvement



  • Lead implementation and sustainment of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) and drive 3R initiatives to reduce waste and optimize resources

  • Conduct audits, inspections, and establish visual management systems (labels, color coding, signage, floor markings) to ensure compliance and workplace organization

  • Drive Kaizen initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring progress to sustain improvements in safety, efficiency, and environmental performance


Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)



  • Ensure compliance with company policies and local EHS regulations, including maintaining documentation and reports

  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification while promoting safe work practices and proper PPE usage

  • Support emergency preparedness activities (e.g., fire drills, evacuation plans, safety trainings) to ensure workplace readiness



Collaboration & Monitoring



  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to align 5S, 3R, and EHS initiatives

  • Monitor and report KPIs related to workplace organization, waste reduction, and safety performance

  • Support internal and external audits, including safety walks and compliance assessments



Governance & Compliance



  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor in line with business requirements

  • Ensure compliance with EHS procedures, labor laws, corporate policies, and internal regulations

  • Uphold work performance standards and adhere to operational guidelines



Workplace Safety Behavior



  • Understand workplace hazards and apply appropriate control measures to maintain a safe environment

  • Participate in safety trainings, comply with legal and company safety standards, and follow safety instructions and signals

  • Demonstrate safe behavior by reporting incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and taking action within authority


 


Requirements: 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • At least 2 years of experience in 5S3R, operations supervision, continuous improvement, and EHS

  • Strong knowledge of database management, documentation, and loss elimination processes

  • Proven supervisory and stakeholder management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Power Apps

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities
