Job Description - Quantity Surveyor

Responsibilities

  • Provide estimating support for subcontractor clients on residential and commercial projects
  • Review contracts, scopes, and project documentation to identify risks and opportunities
  • Prepare and complete BOQ take-offs and cost estimates
  • Assist with contract administration and commercial advisory services
  • Prepare, review, and manage payment claims and progress claims
  • Support preparation and assessment of variations
  • Draft and issue contractual correspondence
  • Assist with Security of Payment processes and documentation
  • Monitor project costs, risks, and cashflow considerations
  • Work closely with the Director to deliver client-focused commercial outcomes
  • Liaise with clients to support live project claims and commercial matters
  • Contribute to improving client margins and reducing contractual risk

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in the Australian construction industry in a commercial, estimating, or contract administration role (builder, subcontractor, or consultancy environment)
  • Demonstrated experience with estimating and/or BOQ take-offs, scope reviews, and pricing risk identification for residential and/or commercial projects
  • Practical working knowledge of contract administration, including variations, payment claims, payment schedules, and contractual correspondence
  • Solid understanding of the Victorian Security of Payment Act (SOPA) and its application in real project scenarios (claims, schedules, timeframes, risks)
  • Ability to read, interpret, and interrogate construction contracts, scopes of works, drawings, and specifications with a commercial mindset
  • Strong written communication skills, including drafting clear, defensible emails, notices, and claim documentation to builders and clients
    High level of competence in Excel (costing, BOQs, registers) and PDF take-off tools (Bluebeam strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple live matters, and deliver accurate work without constant supervision
  • Commercially pragmatic mindset, focused on margin protection, risk reduction, and real-world outcomes.

Work Arrangement

  • Work Setup: Flexible Work Arrangement
  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 3:00 pm PHT, should complete nine 9 hours work, inclusive of 1 hour lunch break
