AP - Sustainability & Carbon Analyst

We are looking for a Carbon Analyst responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting carbon emissions data, preparing carbon calculations, supporting client reporting and assisting with wider sustainability projects.

Initially, the role will focus on handling the time-consuming data collection and reporting work that underpins client projects, allowing the consultant to focus on business development and client relationships.

Over time, the successful candidate will become an integral member of the team and take ownership of increasingly complex sustainability reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Carbon Accounting & Reporting
• Collect, review and organise client energy, gas and utility data.
• Analyse electricity, gas and fuel invoices across multiple client sites.
• Calculate Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions.
• Prepare carbon footprint calculations.
• Assist in producing Carbon Reduction Plans.
• Support carbon reporting for clients across a range of industries.
• Ensure all calculations are accurate and compliant with recognised reporting standards.
• Maintain detailed audit trails and supporting documentation.
• Sustainability Support
• Assist with sustainability reporting and documentation.
• Research sustainability legislation and compliance requirements.
• Support ESG and environmental reporting projects.
• Prepare client reports and presentation material.
• Monitor regulatory and compliance updates.
• Assist with sustainability data collection and verification.
• Data Management
• Extract information from utility bills, invoices and spreadsheets.
• Maintain accurate emissions databases.
• Perform quality assurance checks on data.
• Organise large volumes of client information.
• Identify missing or inconsistent data.
• Maintain structured project files and documentation.
• Business Support
• Prepare proposal support documentation.
• Assist with research for client projects.
• Produce charts, summaries and reports.
• Support process improvement initiatives.
• Help automate reporting workflows using AI where appropriate.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience working with sustainability, ESG or environmental reporting.
• Experience preparing carbon calculations or emissions reporting.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Comfortable working with large datasets.
• Ability to interpret utility invoices and consumption data.
• Strong written English.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• High level of accuracy.

Highly Desirable

• Experience with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
• Knowledge of Carbon Reduction Plans (CRPs).
• Experience with Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
• Understanding of UK sustainability legislation.
• Experience preparing SECR, PPN 06/21 or similar reporting.
• Knowledge of ISO 14064 or ISO 14001.
• Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT to improve reporting workflows.
