Job Description - Scrum Master

Role/Position Summary:

This role is responsible for guiding the software development teams on how the Agile/Scrum process is played out from the start to the end of the project. S/He manages the scope and timeline of the entire project, which in turn guides the teams to set achievable goals and deliver the required quality. They are also in charge of developing and implementing changes to the processes if necessary, monitoring the schedule performance, removing impediments to team's progress, and preparing the team accordingly to ensure on-time delivery of projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads and shapes the behavior of the software development team using the agile method.
  • Oversees design, implementation, QA, and validation of programming code and products.
  • Creates project outlines and timelines, and delegates responsibilities to team members
  • Facilitates daily scrums, stand-ups, and meetings to monitor project progress, and resolve any issues the team may be experiencing.
  • Removes project obstacles, and develops solutions with the team.
  • Ensures milestones are reached, and deadlines are met throughout project lifecycle.
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders, application users, and program owners.
  • Documents progress, produces regular status and milestone reports of projects, and communicates to upper management and stakeholders.
  • Takes responsibility for successful product delivery.
  • Assesses the viability of the project, and makes appropriate recommendations with due diligence.
  • Identifies and resolves conflicting requirements, and adeptly deals with differing opinions and conflicts within the team and with clients.
  • Discusses suggestions, recommendations, or improvements with the project team and clients.
  • Develops and implements changes to improve processes as needed.
  • Coach and mentors development teams and other scrum masters in Agile practices and mindset to ensure continuous development and learning.
  • Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of BS/BA in Information Technology, and other related courses
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in IT project management, and/or years of experience in relevant or related capacity, preferably leading cross-functional teams
  • First Level Scrum Master certification (essential, but not required)
  • Expertise on Agile software development methodologies and practices
  • Expert knowledge of business applications related to finance, human resources, procurement, customer relations management, sales and marketing, data warehousing, including software development, Business Intelligence (BI) design and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience in any Enterprise applications (Oracle; Systems, Application and Product (SAP); BAAN; etc.), CRM and PMI and/or SEI CMM practices
  • Mastery on project management skills: able to plan, manage and follow through, ensure the best flow and completion of activities that deliver project results, on time, to specification and within budget
  • Advanced system and information management skills: able to manage information and systems needed to achieve business objectives
