The role
The Vice President – Specialty Micro Ingredients is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction for the Specialty Micro Ingredients business. The role is accountable for driving business growth, increasing sales and profitability, strengthening principal partnerships, expanding the customer base, and ensuring operational excellence across the business. The Vice President leads the commercial organization in delivering sustainable growth while positioning the company as a preferred partner in the specialty ingredients market.
Your Responsibilities:
Business Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute the long-term business strategy to achieve sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market leadership.
- Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and strategic initiatives to expand the Specialty Micro Ingredients portfolio.
- Establish annual business plans, sales targets, budgets, and growth objectives aligned with the company's strategic direction.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate business risks.
- Drive business expansion through new product introductions, strategic partnerships, and market penetration initiatives.
Principal & Business Management
- Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with global principals, suppliers, and business partners to maximize business opportunities and long-term collaboration.
- Lead negotiations for distribution agreements, commercial contracts, pricing, and business development initiatives with principals.
- Ensure achievement of sales, profitability, and growth targets for each assigned principal and product portfolio.
- Identify and secure new principal partnerships that strengthen the company's product offerings and competitive advantage.
- Conduct regular business reviews with principals to evaluate performance, identify growth opportunities, and align strategic objectives.
Sales & Business Development
- Provide executive leadership in achieving sales revenue, gross profit, and market share objectives.
- Drive new customer acquisition while expanding business with existing key accounts across the food, beverage, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, personal care, and industrial sectors.
- Lead strategic customer negotiations and establish long-term commercial partnerships.
- Develop and oversee key account strategies to maximize customer value and business growth.
- Ensure the sales organization consistently achieves revenue and profitability targets.
Product Portfolio
- Oversee the management and growth of the Specialty Micro Ingredients portfolio, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market demand.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Technical Services, Procurement, and Supply Chain to ensure product availability and successful commercialization.
- Evaluate new product opportunities and emerging technologies to strengthen the company's market position.
- Ensure competitive pricing strategies while maximizing profitability and customer value.
Financial & Operational Leadership
- Assume full accountability for the business unit's Profit and Loss (P&L), ensuring sustainable financial performance.
- Develop sales forecasts, annual budgets, and financial plans to support business objectives.
- Monitor key financial indicators, margins, inventory performance, and working capital to optimize profitability.
- Ensure efficient business operations and resource utilization while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Sales, Business Development, Product Management, and Technical teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Establish performance objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with business goals.
- Build leadership capability and succession plans to support long-term organizational growth.
Governance & Representation
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, or a related science discipline. An MBA or postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in B2B sales, business development, and commercial leadership within the specialty food ingredients, functional ingredients, specialty chemicals, ingredient distribution, or raw materials trading industry.
- At least 8–10 years of executive leadership experience managing sales, business development, principal relationships, and Profit & Loss (P&L).
- Proven track record of driving business growth, increasing sales revenue, expanding market share, and delivering sustainable profitability.
- Extensive experience working with global ingredient manufacturers (principals), international suppliers, and distributors, including negotiating distribution agreements and developing long-term strategic partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of specialty micro ingredients and their applications in the food, beverage, bakery, dairy, confectionery, meat processing, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, personal care, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in managing key accounts and providing value-added ingredient solutions to food manufacturers and industrial customers.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with expertise in strategic planning, sales forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and business performance management.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational performance.
- Willing to travel locally and internationally for principal meetings, customer engagements, supplier visits, and business development activities.
