Job Description - Project Controller

The Project Controller is responsible for providing comprehensive financial oversight for projects, with a strong focus during execution at the shipyard. This role includes detailed cost control, financial forecasting, vendor coordination and accurate reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Project Controller, project teams, senior management and other stakeholders to ensure effective cost management and maintain financial integrity.

Flexibility and availability for travel to project sites, including shipyards, is required.

Your responsibilities

  • Monitor and control project costs, identify variances and implement corrective actions

  • Review timesheets, analyze third-party charges and gather financial data to reduce unexpected costs

  • Prepare and support cost control discussions with business stakeholders

  • Manage purchase orders and goods receipt flow in IFS, ensuring accurate data and collaboration with buyers

  • Monitor planned delivery dates for POs to support accurate project forecasting

  • Maintain contact with suppliers to secure planned transfer of goods, invoicing and reduce outstanding payables

  • Handle customer invoicing (for rebillable projects) and support efficient cash flow aligned with contracts and finance processes

  • Provide timely financial data and reports to Senior Project Controller and Project Managers

  • Support Projects Director and Project Delivery Managers

  • Attend project execution phases on-site for several weeks at a time to monitor progress, enforce cost control measures and provide hands-on financial support

  • Support budgeting and CAPEX forecasting, identify risks and opportunities for cost savings

  • Drive improvements and automation in reporting and analytics tools

Our requirements

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent

  • 5 + years of experience in finance with focus on controlling and/or projects management

  • Full professional proficiency of written and oral English (min. B2)

  • Advanced knowledge in all areas required to fulfil key responsibilities, in particular cost accounting and capitalization rules

  • Ability to travel and work on-site as required by the business needs

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills

  • Experience in executing global processes and working or leading effectively

  • In depth knowledge of Finance processes and policies and full ability to apply these in the daily work
