Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Author and Supplier Communication Consultant (m/w/d)

ERM is seeking an experienced Supplier Communication Specialist with Chemical Regulatory Expertise to join our Sustainable Products and Supply Chain team as Chemical Regulatory Consultant.

This role will major on supplier communication where the main responsibilities are gathering sensitive compositional information from suppliers of chemicals to support the authoring of Safety Data Sheets for our client in the chemical and manufacturing sectors.

ERM has a very well established Product Stewardship Team that is globally connected and focused on assisting our clients to responsibly manage the health, safety, and environmental aspects of raw materials, intermediate, and consumer products throughout their lifecycle and across their value chain. This team delivers critical regulatory and technical support to clients operating across industry, but especially in the Chemicals, Crop Protection and Biocides sectors.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organization and coordination skills, familiarity with Non Disclosure Agreements and ability to work as part of a team.

Role Profile

• Delivery of supplier communication tasks for a range of manufacturing clients
• Coordination of non disclosure agreements
• Liaising with product stewards of clients suppliers to gather sensitive information and escalating any issues to client
• Management of information in a range of systems (e.g., GMS, PowerBI, Microsoft Project Online, Microsoft Excel, Jira)
• Management and storage of data sets
• Classification and labelling of industrial chemical substances, Safety data sheet authoring / hazard communication using Lisam software
• Creation of templates using Lisam and management of Lisam software updates
• Industrial hygiene / exposure assessment /global chemical inventory analysis
• Act as an advisor to our clients (both national and global MNC’s) on all relevant technical and regulatory product issues
• Actively involved in client relationship development through project discussions and demonstrating credibility
• Support the business development activities and proposal writing
• Help the junior consultants to develop their skills, especially Lisam software proficiency

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or relevant environmental science or environmental engineering degree
• At least 2 years experience in SDS authoring using and managing Lisam software, within chemical or manufacturing industry such that you have practical experience in SDS, label, or PCN preparation with a strong background in classification and labelling according to GHS and CLP.
• Familiarity with Transport regulation or compliance advisor certification according to ADR and/or IMDG and/or IATA are beneficial as would a background in toxicology or ecotoxicology.
• Strong interest in data management, IT applications, and software tools.
• Experience in global chemical inventories
• Consultancy skills and experience of working within a consulting environment
• Possess strong written, verbal communication and data presentation skills in English
• Capacity to work independently, proactively and meet strict deadlines
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of best practices and trends in regulatory management
• Additional language skills including German preferred
