Data Engineer (DBT) (m/f/d)

• Engage with dataset owners across the business to understand what data exists, how it's used, and what needs to be migrated
• Assess current ingestion pipelines for correctness and reliability
• Map downstream dependencies before migrating any dataset
• Identify and flag PII fields across datasets, ensuring the new platform meets security, compliance, and legal requirements from the outset
• Review each pipeline critically during migration — not just reproduce it:
  • Spot and fix bad joins, poorly structured queries, and unnecessary complexity
  • Consolidate intermediate datasets where possible (e.g. reducing 4 staging layers to 2)
• Write data quality tests covering null checks, source-to-destination validation, and volumetry
• Set up monitoring and alerting infrastructure, with a view to supporting future on-call rotations via PagerDuty and Slack
• Validate that outputs from the new platform match the old platform before any decommissioning takes place
