As the Assistant Editor Intern, you support the Lead Editor and Director by:

1. Organizing and logging raw footage, interviews, and B -roll.
   

2. Assembling initial rough cuts, sequences, and select reels for review.
   

3. Performing basic editing tasks: trimming clips, adding simple transitions, syncing audio, basic color correction, and titling.
   

4. Enhancing audio (noise reduction, leveling, basic EQ) using tools like Audacity or Premiere Pro.
   

5. Maintaining a clean, well -organized project file structure and digital archive.
   

6. Conducting light research to verify facts, names, dates, and cultural context.
   

7. Creating simple promotional clips, social media teasers, or behind -the -scenes edits when requested.
   

8. Flagging potential sensitivity, ethical, or legal concerns (e.g., consent issues, cultural misrepresentation) and immediately bringing them to the Lead Editor.
   

9. Troubleshooting minor technical issues and keeping editing workstations organized.
   

10. Taking detailed notes during feedback sessions and implementing revisions quickly.
    

Requirements

• Proficient: Adobe Premiere Pro, basic DaVinci Resolve (color & audio), Audacity.
  

• Learning/Using: Final Cut Pro, Avid (basics), Photoshop for graphics, Trello/Asana for task tracking.
  

• Strong storytelling instinct — you can suggest narrative flow but always present options.
  

• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
  

• Cultural sensitivity training — you prioritize respectful portrayal of communities.
