Job Description - Instrument Engineer

The Instrument Engineer is responsible for executing and supervising instrument maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities within Oil & Gas facilities. The role ensures the reliability and performance of field instrumentation, process control systems, and associated equipment while maintaining compliance with company procedures and HSE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of instrumentation systems.
  • Execute instrument loop checking, loop testing, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Perform installation, inspection, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of field instruments.
  • Carry out hook -up works for pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
  • Calibrate and maintain transmitters, switches, gauges, analyzers, control valves, and valve positioners.
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of pneumatic, electro -pneumatic, and smart instrumentation systems.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, hook -up drawings, wiring diagrams, and datasheets.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction teams during shutdowns and project execution.
  • Ensure all calibration activities comply with project specifications and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records, maintenance reports, and technical documentation.
  • Comply with PTW, LOTO, and HSE procedures at all times.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Hands -on experience in instrument loop testing, hook -up works, calibration of instruments, and control valves.
  • Strong knowledge of transmitters, switches, analyzers, control valves, field instruments, and process control systems.
  • Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with HART communicators and calibration equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PTW, LOTO, and HSE requirements within Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Experience in shutdown and turnaround activities is an advantage.
