In this role, you will be working in our Maintenance & Logistics (Mechanical) Department, supporting Al‑Awalia’s operations by ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems across critical material handling equipment.
Some of the responsibilities include:
- Adherence to quality, health & safety, information security, and business continuity policies.
- Install, maintain, repair, and overhaul mechanical equipment, machinery, and components in line with approved procedures.
- Perform preventive, corrective, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Inspect mechanical systems to identify wear, defects, misalignment, leaks, and potential failures.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues on rotating equipment, ship unloaders, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, and related systems.
- Carry out adjustments, alignments, assembly, disassembly, and replacement of mechanical components.
- Use mechanical tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
- Test equipment after maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and submit work completion reports and checklists.
- Report maintenance issues, completed work, and observations to the supervisor.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure tools and work areas are clean and safe.
- Report hazards, near misses, and safety incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure efficient workflows.
- Contribute to teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties relevant to the role as assigned by the line manager.
About you
For you to be successful in this role, you will need to have the following:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant industrial experience, or ITI/Vocational certification in Mechanical with a minimum of 6 years of experience (preferred).
- Basic command of the English language.
- Welding certification is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with heavy industrial equipment such as ship unloaders, conveyors, and stackers.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices, tools, and techniques.
- Ability to diagnose faults and troubleshoot mechanical problems effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and best practices in maintenance environments.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare clear reports.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and safety.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
