Job Description - 1st Level Junior SAP Support Consultant
A few things about Sync
Sync gives industry-leading organisations the operational freedom to focus on growth. We partner with businesses and their teams to turn growth and ambition into results through SAP, cloud, and infrastructure.
We work with clients at defining moments, from companies scaling into new markets to established businesses modernising the systems they run on.
Our business is built on long-term relationships and on adapting as the industry changes. The company runs on its people. We put their wellbeing first, share what we know, and step in for each other without waiting to be asked.
The starting point
We are looking for people to join our team as 1st Level Junior SAP Support Consultants. The role suits recent graduates, SAP end users who want to move into consultancy, and anyone with basic IT support experience who wants to go further.
You will learn through Sync Academy, our own training program, built around the skills first-level support requires across SAP and the systems around it.
The people who do well in the Academy move on to specialised SAP roles and join other teams here.
What you take on
As a 1st Level Junior SAP Support Consultant, your main job is to fix the problems our clients’ users report or find a workaround that keeps them working until the fix is ready. You will also take part in our testing work.
Answer and resolve first-level requests and incidents across SAP and non-SAP applications, working in our ticketing system and project management tools.
Troubleshoot across a range of SAP services with other support teams and get answers back within the agreed SLA.
Escalate complex issues to 2nd and 3rd level support, with the steps you have taken and any workarounds clearly documented.
Identify recurring issues and suggest ways to prevent them from recurring.
Run testing across SAP and non-SAP applications, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Use tools such as Xray and Jira to run test cases, track bugs, and report what you find.
Keep documentation and knowledge bases current so the next person picking up the same issue is not starting from zero.
Learn how each client works by talking daily with their IT and business teams, project managers and external partners.
From time to time, your team lead may ask you to take on other work, including internal projects and initiatives.
What comes with it
Training: You get in-depth, on-the-job training across the key SAP areas, including ERP, CRM, BI and the applications around them.
Work on live systems: From early on, you work on user management, troubleshooting and testing in the live SAP and infrastructure environments our clients run their business on.
A team that shows up: You join a team that answers questions, shares what it knows and takes your development as seriously as the work.
Learn from seniors: Training sessions are run by senior experts and team leads who spend the rest of their week in these same systems.
Room to grow: After 18 months in first-level support, the route into a specialised SAP team opens. When a team needs someone, we look at our own people first.
What we ask for
A real wish to keep learning across SAP modules and the wider IT services around them.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on root cause rather than the quickest way to close the ticket.
Adaptability when priorities shift, because client environments change and the work moves with them.
Care for the person on the other end of the ticket, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to IT professionals and to non-technical people.
Good communication skills, strong organisation, and the ability to manage your time.
The ability to work with a team and on your own, managing several things at once without losing detail or quality.
Good spoken and written English.
Nice to have
Basic IT support experience, from a helpdesk or any other IT role.
Prior SAP experience, as a business end user or key user.
If you want to start your career in SAP and this sounds like you, send us your CV. We are looking forward to meeting the person behind it.
