Commissioning Supervisor - Cryogenic Gas Unit

We are currently looking for a Pre-commissioning & Commissioning Supervisor in the framework of an industrial project involving the construction and start-up of a new cryogenic gas production unit in Romania.

The assignment consists in supervising and coordinating all field activities during the critical transition from construction to operation. The Supervisor will join an existing commissioning team and work closely with subcontractors, engineering disciplines and the future operating team.

The position is site-based in Romania and is expected to last between 3 and 6 months.

On a daily basis, the Supervisor will report directly to the Commissioning Manager.

The main duties are the following:

• Supervise and coordinate all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities performed on site.
  


• Organise and monitor cold testing, static verifications, loop checks and functional checks.
  


• Supervise dynamic commissioning activities and the functional testing of integrated systems.
  


• Perform and coordinate pre-commissioning activities such as P&ID checks, equipment inspections, blowing, flushing, cleaning and inerting.
  


• Support the start-up of the cryogenic production unit and associated process systems.
  


• Supervise the commissioning of rotating equipment and ensure that the required mechanical, electrical and instrumentation checks have been completed.
  


• Review and interpret project documentation, including P&IDs, isometric drawings, equipment documentation, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
  


• Coordinate the activities of subcontractors and site workers, ensuring that the required resources are available and that the works are performed in accordance with the commissioning sequence.
  


• Ensure that all activities comply with the approved procedures, project specifications and commissioning schedule.
  


• Identify technical issues and coordinate their resolution with the relevant engineering, construction and commissioning teams.
  


• Manage the punch-list process, including the identification, recording, prioritisation, follow-up and closure of outstanding items.
  


• Monitor the progress of commissioning activities and promptly report any deviation that may affect the project schedule.
  


• Enforce all applicable Health, Safety and Environment requirements during field operations.
  


• Ensure compliance with the project Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
  


• Stop or suspend activities whenever unsafe conditions, quality issues or unacceptable technical risks are identified.
  


• Prepare and issue daily progress reports describing completed activities, outstanding issues, encountered difficulties and required actions.
  


• Maintain clear and effective communication with the Commissioning Manager and all relevant project stakeholders.
  


• Contribute to the preparation, verification and compilation of commissioning and handover documentation.
  


• Support the formal transfer of completed systems and equipment to the future operating team.
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of Air Separation Units, cryogenic gas units or comparable industrial process plants.
  


• Strong experience in loop checks, functional checks, static testing and dynamic commissioning.
  


• Advanced knowledge of pre-commissioning activities, including P&ID checks, blowing, flushing and inerting.
  


• Advanced experience in the commissioning of rotating equipment.
  


• Ability to read and interpret piping documentation, including P&IDs, isometrics and equipment documentation.
  


• Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation documentation, including logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and instrumentation hook-ups.
  


• Basic knowledge of DCS modifications and troubleshooting.
  


• Experience with Schneider PLC systems would be an advantage.
  


• Basic knowledge of LV and HV electrical work supervision would be beneficial.
  


• Proven ability to supervise subcontractors and manage site workers.
  


• Strong leadership, autonomy, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  


• Excellent reporting and communication skills.
  


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  


• Fluent English is required.
  


• Fluent or bilingual French is required.
  


• Valid medical fitness for site activities.
  


• The candidate must hold or be able to obtain the required site safety and electrical authorisations, including relevant electrical, work-at-height, confined-space and chemical-risk certifications.
  


• Availability to work full-time on site in Romania.
