Looker Engineer

Role Overview

Data Edge is looking for a Looker Engineer to support the development, configuration, and maintenance of business intelligence reporting solutions, with a strong focus on Looker dashboards, LookML development, and marketing data source integration.

The role involves working with Looker, PowerMyAnalytics, and connected marketing data sources to build reliable reporting flows, reusable metrics, dashboards, and data models that support business decision-making.

The Looker Engineer will work closely with BI teams, data analysts, marketing stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure that reporting solutions are accurate, scalable, and easy to use.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Looker dashboards based on business and reporting requirements.
• Build and configure custom fields, dimensions, measures, and calculated metrics in Looker.
• Connect Looker to relevant data sources and ensure reliable data availability for reporting.
• Develop and maintain LookML models, explores, views, joins, and reusable reporting logic.
• Configure and manage marketing data source connections through PowerMyAnalytics.
• Support the integration of social media and marketing platforms into automated reporting flows.
• Define and manage data source joins across multiple marketing and reporting datasets.
• Connect PowerMyAnalytics outputs to BI tools and reporting environments.
• Support user access, permission administration, and governance of reporting assets.
• Collaborate with business users to validate KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and reporting outputs.
• Troubleshoot data quality, connectivity, and reporting issues across Looker and related tools.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Looker dashboard development.
• Experience with LookML development, including views, explores, joins, measures, and dimensions.
• Experience connecting BI tools to multiple data sources.
• Good understanding of custom fields, calculated metrics, and reusable reporting logic.
• Experience working with marketing data sources, social media data, or automated reporting tools.
• Familiarity with PowerMyAnalytics or similar marketing data hub / connector platforms.
• Ability to manage user permissions and reporting access in BI environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Power BI report development.
• Understanding of semantic models and shared KPI definitions.
• Basic knowledge of DAX.
• Experience comparing Power BI and Looker capabilities.
• Familiarity with shared semantic models, reusable metrics, and governed reporting layers.
• Previous experience working with marketing, digital performance, social media, or campaign reporting data.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Looker Engineer with strong BI development skills and practical experience working with connected marketing data sources. They should be comfortable building dashboards, developing LookML, managing data source connections, and helping business users access reliable and consistent reporting.

This role is best suited for someone who understands both the technical side of BI development and the business need for clear, trusted, and reusable reporting.
