mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated/control systems used across SELA's production

workshop, event structures, kinetic sets, staging automation, and attraction-type installations. He/she works across preventive and reactive maintenance, ensuring machinery, tools, and automated equipment remain safe, reliable, and available for fabrication and live show operations. This is a hands-on technical role combining mechanical, electrical, and PLC/controls knowledge, suited to someone who can diagnose faults quickly and keep production and event equipment running with zero downtime during show-critical periods.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preventive & Reactive Maintenance

• Maintenance Planning: Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for workshop machinery

(CNC routers, saws, welding equipment, compressors) and event/show equipment (motion bases, automation rigs, motorized scenic elements).

• Inspection & Servicing: Perform routine inspection, lubrication, cleaning, calibration, and adjustment of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to prevent breakdowns.

• Fault Diagnosis & Repair: Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical assemblies, motors, gearboxes, sensors, actuators, and control systems, minimizing equipment downtime.

• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to breakdown calls during fabrication, load-in, and live show windows, prioritizing show-critical and safety-critical equipment.

2. Mechatronics & Controls

• Automation Systems: Install, test, and maintain automated and motion-control systems (PLC-driven show

automation, motorized rigging, kinetic set pieces) used in event productions.

• Electrical & Electronic Systems: Troubleshoot PLC I/O, sensors, VFDs (variable frequency drives), control panels, and low-voltage wiring associated with automated equipment.

• Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in staging, lifts, and motion equipment, including hoses, cylinders, valves, and pumps.

• Testing & Commissioning: Support testing and commissioning of new equipment, automated set pieces, and machinery before workshop or on-site deployment.

3. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

• Safety Compliance: Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), electrical safety, and machine guarding procedures at all times; ensure equipment meets relevant safety standards before use.

• Risk Awareness: Identify and report unsafe equipment conditions and support Risk Assessments/Method

Statements (RAMS) for automated or motorized installations.

• Maintenance Records: Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activity, repairs, spare parts usage, and equipment performance history for each machine and automated system.

• Spares & Inventory: Monitor spare parts stock for critical machinery and automation components, flagging reorder needs ahead of major productions.

4. Team & Cross-functional Support

• Workshop Support: Work closely with the Installation Team Leader, Electrical Team Leader, and fabrication crew to keep tools and machinery production-ready.

• Knowledge Sharing: Provide basic troubleshooting guidance and safe operating instruction to workshop and site staff using mechanized or automated equipment.

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline.

• Experience: 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in mechatronics, industrial automation, amusement/attraction ride maintenance, theatrical/show automation, or a similar workshop or production

environment.

• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent), motor control systems, VFDs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical power transmission (gearboxes, belts, chains, bearings).

• Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency using multimeters, diagnostic software, and hand/power tools for mechanical and electrical fault-finding.

• Safety Certifications: Relevant electrical/mechanical H&S certifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent local certification) preferred.

• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving under time pressure, methodical fault-finding approach, and ability to work independently during show-critical window

Additional Information

Typical Working Conditions

• Environment: Must be able to work in a workshop environment, which may include loud noise, dust, and heat, with some on-site installation work.
