Job Description - Senior Buyer - Private Label



Purpose of the role:


To develop and manage eXtra’s private label portfolio to drive sales, profitability, and market competitiveness. The role leads product development, assortment planning, sourcing, and pricing strategies while ensuring effective supplier partnerships and commercial performance. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to successfully execute private label initiatives and support sustainable business growth.


 


Roles, Responsibility and Authority:


Private Label Strategy & Portfolio Management



  • Develop and execute the private label category strategy in line with business objectives and growth plans.

  • Identify market opportunities and lead the development and launch of new private label products.

  • Manage the private label assortment and product lifecycle to maximize sales, profitability, and market competitiveness.


Supplier Management & Sourcing



  • Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers and manufacturers for private label products.

  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and agreements to ensure competitiveness and target margins.

  • Monitor supplier performance, product quality, and compliance with agreed standards.


Commercial Performance Management



  • Monitor sales, margins, and category performance and recommend actions to improve results.

  • Develop pricing strategies and support promotional and commercial initiatives to achieve sales targets.

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer demand to identify growth opportunities.


Brand Development & Marketing Coordination



  • Coordinate with Marketing on packaging, branding, content, and promotional campaigns.

  • Support initiatives that strengthen brand equity and enhance customer perception of private label products.

  • Ensure consistency of brand positioning across channels.


Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution



  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure product availability and successful launches.

  • Support store implementation and initiatives that enhance the customer and retail experience.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective execution of category plans.


Reporting & Continuous Improvement



  • Prepare and present category performance reports and recommendations.

  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, product performance, and overall category profitability.


 


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.

  • 5–8 years of experience in Buying, Category Management, Product Development, or Commercial functions, preferably within retail or consumer goods.

  • Proven experience in private label development, supplier management, and commercial negotiations.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in sales analysis, pricing strategies, and assortment planning.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems; experience with retail analytics tools is an advantage.

  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
