Role Purpose 

This role owns all consumer lending products across Kuunda and is directly accountable for revenue performance, growth, and product health. Consumer products are the company’s highest-revenue portfolio and this role sits at the center of decision-making across product, risk, commercial, and operations. 

The role is product-led but performance-driven. You will set direction, make hard trade-offs, diagnose problems fast, and move markets forward with conviction. You are expected to think commercially, act analytically, and execute decisively in a high-pace scale-up environment operating across multiple African markets. 

This is not a delivery PM role. It is a product owner with a performance mandate. 

What You Will Own

• End-to-end ownership of all consumer lending products across markets 
• Revenue growth, product economics, portfolio health and product sustainability 
• Product strategy, prioritization and roadmap decisions for consumer lending 
• Translation of market, data and risk signals into product actions 
• Clear go or no-go decisions on launches, pricing, rules and enhancements 

Core Responsibilities 

Product Ownership & Strategy 

• Own the consumer lending product suite across all partners and markets 

• Define product strategy, positioning, and differentiation by market 

• Drive prioritization decisions based on data, revenue impact and risk 

• Translate technical and risk constraints into clear business requirements 

Performance & Analytics 

• Own key metrics including growth, revenue, default, utilization and retention 

• Use data to diagnose performance issues and act quickly 

• Make analytically backed decisions under pressure 

• Work closely with data, risk and finance teams to ensure new product designs are strong revenue generators and existing product grow in line with forecasted growth targets 

Commercial & Liquidity Problem-Solving 

• Design product responses to liquidity constraints across African markets 

• Shape pricing, fees and rules to balance growth and portfolio quality 

• Support partner discussions with clear commercial and market knowledge reasoning 

• Understand and influence product economics end-to-end 

Execution in a Scale-Up Environment 

• Operate comfortably in ambiguity with limited process 

• Solve problems on the spot without waiting for perfect information 

• Move fast while maintaining product discipline 

• Work cross-functionally with Tech, Ops, Risk and Commercial teams 

Market & Partner Engagement 

• Engage directly with partners, operators and internal stakeholders 

• Travel regularly across markets to understand on-the-ground realities 

• Bring market insight back into product and performance decisions

Experience & Track Record 

• Senior product management experience in fintech, lending, mobile money or financial services 

• Direct ownership of revenue-generating products 

• Experience working in scale-ups or fast-growing environments 

• Exposure to multi-market or emerging market operations 

• Proven history of shipping, scaling and improving products 

• Clear track record of achievement, progression and impact 

• Experience hiring, mentoring or building strong teams is a plus
