The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things, the following key performance areas:
Assist with the development and drafting of resolution-related policy, including regulatory instruments.
Conduct or assist with research, analysis and benchmarking against international standards and best practices on resolution-related topics.
Assist with the drafting and maintenance of resolution plans.
Analyse data submitted by financial institutions for developing or updating resolution plans.
Participate in engagements with financial institutions and industry stakeholders on issues related to crisis management and resolution.
Assist with or make presentations to various SARB and industry forums on resolution-related topics.
Assist with the administrative duties for meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to the activities of resolution-related committees and their structures.
Assist with secretariat duties for specific resolution-related committees.
Contribute to the broader work of the Resolution and Crisis Preparedness Division, including methodologies to measure the systemic significance of financial institutions, simulations to test the resolution framework and work relating to failing institutions.
Assist with and/or contribute to other policy developments within the broader Financial Stability Department and any internal and external committees it serves, including international committees.
Keep abreast of international developments on resolution-related matters.
Assist with identifying information gaps and developing proposals to address them.
Assist with the day-to-day activities of the Division.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
an Honours’ degree in either Banking, Finance or Law or any other equivalent qualification; and
two years’ job-related experience within the financial sector or financial services industry.
Additional requirements include:
knowledge of regulatory frameworks and international standards;
knowledge and understanding of business continuity or crisis management;
knowledge of, or experience in, managing distressed assets;
facilitation and presentation skills;
strong interpersonal skills;
strong communication skills (verbal and written); and
proficiency in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office products such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
