Job Purpose:
To provide a technical medical specialist service within Occupational Health Section.
Key Responsibility Areas:
• Assist with administration and medical management of specialised functions of the occupational Health physician.
• Conducting general Occupational Health and Services including pre-placement examinations and medical screening.
• Assist the Occupational Health Medical Practitioner in the planning and organisation of delegated services and specialised functions.
• Liaise with medical staff, senior administrative staff and senior staff of other sections in respect of services and sections requirements
• Compile and analyse statistics on the work of the delegated services.
• Analysing occupational medicine tends, incidents and prevalence thereof encountered at the allocated service outlet point.
• Maintaining an up to date knowledge of all elements of comprehensive health services legally, ethically and educationally.
• Providing specialist service to the occupational hygiene, nursing and First Aid services.
• Conduct health risk assessments in the eThekwini Municipality.
• Carry out related assignments.

Essential Requirements:
• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) (NQF Level 8) or equivalent recognized by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Diploma in Occupational Health (NQF Level 8) or equivalent acceptable to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
• Current valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
• Registration of Occupational Health as an additional qualification with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 5 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner post qualification, of which 1 year must be in Occupational Health as an Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.
Preferred Requirements:
• 6 years’ experience as a Medical Practitioner post qualification, of which 2 years must be in Occupational Health as an Occupational Health Medical Practitioner.
