The Allan Gray group consists of many legal entities, in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Bermuda and Guernsey. The group’s orientation is long-term, particularly the investment philosophy and relationships with its clients and employees.
About group finance – business services team
The Business Services team forms part of the broader finance team at Allan Gray. The team manages all day-to-day operations such as ensuring the running costs of the building as well as all vendors and salaries are paid.
The team consists of 12 team members, ranging from accountants, senior accountants, team leaders and management.
The function includes (but is not limited to):
To provide management and the organisation with accurate and reliable reporting by performing key reconciliations, analysing expenses and budgets, preparing monthly journals and reports, and assisting with month end and yearend financial processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: BASED ON ROTATION
• Analyse vendor payments and reconciliation to statement based on your responsibility centre.
• Daily bank reconciliation and analysis of the cash management report.
• Preparation, analysis and reporting of intercompany fees.
• Monthly expense analysis reporting, including budget vs actual analysis and forecast.
• Preparation and analysis of balance sheet reports.
• Preparation and analysis of VAT reconciliation reports.
• Analysing/reviewing corporate cards reconciliations
• Prepare monthly reports for payroll (refunds, deductions, vouchers etc)
• Preparation of monthly journal entries
• Analyse annual budgets received from the departments.
• Prepare reports for financial year end during February and March
• Ability to work with high volumes and deliver on deadlines provided.
• Pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team as well as with various business units within the business.
• Be accountable for the sections of work assigned to you and willing to assist with other tasks if required.
• Ability to prioritize and organise workflow activities effectively.
• Take initiative to improve processes.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft office.
• Business Central advantageous
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar
• 1-3 years of relevant post-graduate work experience
