Area Manager Apparel Retail

Requirements

• Lead and drive a strong sales culture across the area.
  
• Ensure Store Managers and Sales Team Leaders are equipped to achieve and exceed sales targets.

• Lead, motivate and develop Store Managers and Sales Team Leaders.
  
• Build a high-performance culture across the area.
  
• Provide coaching and guidance to store leadership teams on sales, operations and people management.
  
• Ensure appropriate HR processes are effectively managed, including recruitment, interviewing, training, development and disciplinary processes.
  
• Support the ongoing development and performance management of store teams.
  
• Assist with the training and development of future retail leaders.
  

• Develop and mentor junior or trainee management within the area.
  
• Provide practical coaching and support to ensure future managers are equipped to lead their own store portfolios.
  
• Conduct regular store visits and provide ongoing performance guidance and
  
• support.
  

• Ensure stores maintain strong operational and administrative standards.
  
• Monitor key controls, staff rosters, reporting, merchandising, stock counts and compliance.
  
• Identify and implement initiatives to minimise stock losses and shrinkage.
  
• Oversee supervised stock counts and ensure accurate reporting.
  
• Ensure required operational reports and stock-related information are completed accurately and on time.
  
• Maintain high standards of store discipline, compliance and operational execution.
  

• 3+ years' managerial experience within the apparel retail sector – essential.
  
• Proven experience managing multiple retail stores or a geographical area.
  
• Strong sales-driven mindset with a proven track record of achieving targets.
  
• Strong people management, coaching and leadership skills.
  
• Ability to motivate teams and drive consistent performance.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Strong relationship-building capabilities.
  
• Good understanding of retail operations, merchandising and stock management.
  
• Strong attention to detail and administrative capability.
  
• Ability to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.
  
• High levels of honesty, integrity and accountability.
  
• Grade 12 / Matric essential.
