Location

This role is based in Cape Town, Waterfront V&A.

Job Purpose

To deliver high-quality, investment-focused business intelligence and data solutions that enable strategic decision-making. The role focuses on translating stakeholder requirements into scalable data models, dashboards, reports, and insights that support all business areas. 

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain BI solutions (reports, dashboards, semantic models) using tools such as Power BI


• Translate business requirements into scalable data models and reporting solutions


• Deliver trusted data products supporting: 
  o    Client engagement and sales analytics
  o    Platform and flows insights (AUM, inflows/outflows)


• Develop and maintain data pipelines and transformations across enterprise platforms


• Build physical data models aligned to various domains


• Ensure data quality, reconciliation, and alignment across systems providing data


• Partner with cross-departmental teams to define data requirements


• Facilitate requirement-gathering sessions and translate into actionable BI deliverables


• Provide advisory on data-driven decision-making and insight generation


• Apply advanced analytics and data mining techniques to identify trends and opportunities


• Develop clear, compelling data stories for business stakeholders and executives


• Ensure adherence to enterprise data standards, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements (e.g. ASISA reporting)


• Maintain data lineage, definitions, and metadata


• Maintain critical data processes and control checks


• Ensure integrity of reporting outputs


• Collaborate with other Developers, Analysts, Architects and other Stakeholders


• Contribute to development delivery cycles, ensuring alignment to SLAs and quality standards


• Support UAT, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives


• Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives (e.g., predictive insights, automation, Copilot-enabled reporting)


• Identify opportunities to enhance BI through automation, apps, self-service, and data products


• Measurable contribution to the organisation’s AI maturity journey 


• Share best practices, standards, and industry trends with the BI team


• Contribute to reusable assets, templates, and playbooks
  
  

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI / MS Fabric / Azure DevOps


• BI Developer courses or certification


• Dimensional modelling


• Data Management certifications 


• Business Analysis certification


• AI Developer courses


• Excel, Power Query 


• Power Platform 

Minimum Experience Level

• 4+ years’ experience in BI / Data Analytics (asset management or financial services preferred but not essential)

Technical / Professional Knowledge

Core Skills

• Power BI (advanced) – data modelling, visualization


• SQL / Database querying (advanced)


• Python


• Data modelling (star schemas, semantic model building)


• Data pipelines and ETL/ELT (Azure / Fabric / SQL Server environments)


• Data analysis and interpretation (advanced)


• Data storytelling and visualization (advanced)


• Data profiling, cleansing, and quality management


• Metadata and data governance principles

Additional Capabilities
