This role is responsible for leading the Institutional Shared Services team, with a primary focus on strengthening and overseeing internal controls and processes to ensure compliance with AML, FATCA, CRS, and Data Protection regulations across multiple jurisdictions. The role plays a key part in safeguarding regulatory compliance, enhancing data integrity, and supporting operational excellence across Institutional Operations in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Bermuda.
• Collaborating with Compliance in ensuring that all new legislation as well as changes to existing legislation and regulations are understood and implemented successfully across operational teams and relevant regions
• Design, implement, and maintain manual and automated controls for AML, FATCA, CRS, and Data Protection compliance.
• Monitor the effectiveness of operational controls and client operations processes and address gaps as identified.
• Lead and develop team members with a focus on skillset development, growth and continuous improvement.
• Implement and oversee Institutional training programmes aimed at complying with legislative requirements and operational needs.
• Engage with external auditors and internal control owners in managing the end-to-end ISAE3402 control report process, including assessing the completeness and accuracy of controls contained in the report.
• Manage regulatory submissions on behalf of Institutional Operations.
• Maintain the Risk and Control Matrix related to regulatory and fraud controls, facilitate annual compliance assessments, and manage the documentation and implementation of Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs).
• Build stakeholder relationships with the broader business and specifically Assurance teams and represent Institutional Operations in regulatory forums.
• Lead CRM system enhancements and process improvements.
• Assist the broader Client Operations team with fraud risk management and awareness initiatives.
• Provide compliance and regulatory guidance as the point-person to the Institutional Operations business teams.
• Manage engagements with the Group Assurance function, including audit processes and follow-up action points.
• Oversee control implementation and ongoing monitoring to ensure the accuracy and completeness of client CRM data.
• Drive and communicate areas for data quality improvements.
• Define required scope changes to CRM systems, including defining any logic changes. Monitor outcomes and establish appropriate testing and implementation plans.
• Review escalations and client onboarding/offboarding exception approvals.
• Review transaction anomaly and cash thresholding reporting, and ongoing client screening results.
• Manage ad-hoc and regular regulatory reporting and data submissions, including FATCA/CRS reporting.
• Manage the maintenance of process notes for operational and training use by institutional operations teams.
• Conduct training to new starters and the broader Institutional Operations team.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Effective planning and prioritisation.

• Strong analytical ability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Exposure to Power BI and Power Automate would be advantageous.

The role may involve broader responsibilities across Institutional Operations, including exposure to Institutional Operations Tax and Bermuda Operations.
Required:
• BCom or BBusSc in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Law.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in financial services.
• Experience in control framework design or implementation.
• Experience managing or leading a team.
Advantageous:
• Qualified CA(SA),
• Asset management experience
• AML/FATCA/CRS exposure,
• Prior experience with ISAE 3402 report preparation or review.
