CMM QC Inspector – Automotive Manufacturing

Our Client, a well -established precision engineering and manufacturing company within the automotive sector, is seeking an experienced CMM QC Inspector to join their team in Alberton. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality -focused professional with strong metrology, inspection, and process control experience to play a key role in ensuring product conformity and supporting continuous improvement within a CNC machining environment.

Reporting to: QC Supervisor (Plant 2)

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, edit programs, and operate CMM equipment for dimensional inspections
  
• Conduct inspections throughout production runs using CMM equipment, measuring instruments, and fixed gauges
  
• Interpret measurement results and compile inspection reports
  
• Perform NDT activities and assist with SPC and MSA requirements
  
• Verify the accuracy and condition of measuring and testing equipment
  
• Manage the condition and functionality of CMM equipment, probes, fixtures, software, and related tooling
  
• Validate first -off products and record inspection results in accordance with quality procedures
  
• Support Engineering and R&D with metrology -related activities
  
• Set up and verify gauges used during production processes
  
• Train production personnel on verification activities and quality requirements
  
• Conduct process audits and patrol inspections to ensure adherence to standards
  
• Identify and control non -conforming products, including raising NCRs where required
  
• Capture and analyse quality data, providing recommendations based on findings
  
• Compile Certificates of Conformance (COCs) and other quality documentation
  
• Support APQP activities and continuous improvement initiatives
  
• Collaborate effectively with Production, Engineering, Suppliers, and Customers to improve process performance and customer satisfaction

Candidate Requirements

• Matric with Mathematics and Science
  
• Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or related field advantageous
  
• Advanced training in ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 methodologies including:
  • Implementation
    
  • Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
    
  • FMEA
    
  • Control Plans
    
  • Internal Auditing
    
  • PPAP and APQP advantageous
    

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 1 year's experience in a QC role using CMM within an engineering environment (with relevant qualification), OR
  
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a Quality Control or CNC Setting role with at least 1 year's CMM experience
  
• Minimum 2 years' experience within the Automotive Industry
  

Strong Knowledge Of

• Steel manufacturing and machining processes
  
• Mechanical properties of steel
  
• Technical drawings and customer specifications
  
• GD&T interpretation and application within CMM inspection
  
• Automotive quality tools including FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP and APQP
  
• SPC analysis and interpretation
  
• Measuring instruments and metrology practices
  
• Basic CAD knowledge (PolyWorks advantageous)
  
• Microsoft Excel and Word
  

Working Hours

Day Shift:

• Monday to Thursday – 07H00 to 16H30 (Overtime if required)
  
• Friday – 07H00 to 13H00 (Overtime if required, including weekends)
  

Night Shift:

• Monday to Thursday – 19H00 to 05H30 (Overtime if required)
  
• Friday Night Overtime if required – 19H00 to 05H30
