Job Description - Compliance Consultant (12 Months)

We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance Consultant to provide strategic compliance advisory services and serve as the Head of Compliance for a regulated Financial Services Provider. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements while promoting a strong culture of governance, ethics, and compliance.

The Compliance Consultant will develop, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures; oversee the Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP); conduct compliance monitoring and reporting; identify and mitigate compliance risks; and provide regulatory guidance to management and key stakeholders. The role also includes monitoring legislative changes, preparing regulatory submissions, maintaining compliance registers, facilitating audits and compliance reviews, and liaising with regulatory authorities where necessary.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in financial services compliance, sound knowledge of FAIS, FSCA regulations, AML/CFT requirements, corporate governance principles, and risk management practices. Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem -solving skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Head of Compliance for the organisation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, frameworks, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with FAIS, FSCA, AML/CFT, and other applicable legislation.
  • Manage the Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP).
  • Conduct compliance monitoring, reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and statutory returns.
  • Maintain compliance registers and monitor corrective actions.
  • Provide compliance advice and training to management and staff.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and implement required changes.
  • Liaise with regulators and external stakeholders.
  • Promote good corporate governance and ethical business practices.
  • Support internal and external compliance audits.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Business Management, Compliance, or a related field.
  • Relevant compliance short courses will be an added advantage.
  • Recently qualified or recently certified professionals are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the minimum qualification requirements.
  • Proof of registration or membership with the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa (CISA) is advantageous.
  • Valid RE1, RE3, and RE5 certificates are required.
  • Proof of authorisation as a Compliance Officer by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) is required.

Experience

  • More than 6 years' experience in Compliance Management is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with 3–5 years' relevant Compliance Management experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance management frameworks.
  • Experience within the Financial Services industry is highly advantageous.
