This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Digitalization & Automation Lead, SSA based in South Africa.
This role sits at the intersection of digital innovation, automation, and business transformation across Sub-Saharan Africa, driving high-impact initiatives that reshape how technology is applied across operations and growth.
You will lead the design and execution of experimental digital projects, translating innovative ideas into validated proof-of-concepts with measurable business value.
Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will explore emerging technologies and build scalable solutions that support long-term digital transformation.

You will play a key role in identifying, testing, and scaling new digital capabilities that can be integrated into broader organizational portfolios.

Accountabilities:
- Lead digitalization and automation initiatives across SSA markets, driving innovation through pilot projects, proof-of-concepts, and scalable solutions.
- Design, test, and iterate new technology-enabled processes using agile methodologies and experimental delivery approaches.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning solutions, to identify opportunities for business impact and operational improvement.
- Build and manage relationships with startups, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to support innovation pipelines.
- Translate validated prototypes into structured product or automation initiatives aligned with business priorities.
- Apply data-driven analysis to assess feasibility, impact, and scalability of digital transformation initiatives.
- Support end-to-end lifecycle management of automation solutions once adopted beyond the pilot stage.
Requirements:
- Experience in digital transformation, automation, product innovation, or technology consulting roles.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies and project delivery frameworks.
- Technical literacy in emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, or automation platforms.
- Ability to evaluate business opportunities using both technical and commercial perspectives.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external innovation partners or startups.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Familiarity with consumer goods or fast-moving, innovation-driven industries is a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across diverse environments.
