Position Title: Farm Fore-Person 

Position Type: Regular - Full-Time ​

PURPOSE OF JOB:

• Ensure that equipment is continuously maintained in operating conditions


• Solve equipment breakdowns correctly and in time.


• Supervising & leading the equipment operators, record their hours.


• ‘Off-season’ maintenance in the workshop.


• Make sure all field operations are executed correctly and timely.


• Record input usage per field (fertilizer, pesticides, fuel etc…).


• Cooperate with the farm agronomist in proper execution of in-field trials

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Supervising farm employees


• Repair & Maintenance on tractors and farm equipment


• Ensure preventive maintenance is in place


• Housekeeping in the yard, buildings and fields


• ‘Hand-on’ approach is required. You work with the team, and where required you do operate, repairs & maintenance yourself.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Qualification: Matric. Advantageous is Diploma/Degree in Agriculture.


• Minimum 5 years Farms Supervision Experience


• Experience & knowledge of crop production.


• Experience & Skills in Operation and Adjusting Farm machinery


• Knowledge of GPS systems and electronic equipment controls


• Experience & Skills in Servicing, Maintaining and Repairing Farm machinery


• Knowledge on: Hydraulic systems and  Auto electrics
