Malander is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Group HR Manager to lead the people function at Group level. You will act as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO, building and driving a people strategy that supports organisational growth, strengthens culture and ensures full legislative compliance.
This is a hands-on, senior generalist role covering the complete HR value chain, through to performance management, employee relations and HR reporting and people-based strategies. Exposure to international HR practice, including the UK, is an important part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
Design, set up and implement a group people strategy aligned to business objectives
Partner with executives and line managers to provide strategic and operational HR advice
Draft, review and implement HR policies and procedures, keeping documentation current with legislative changes
Manage HR disputes, grievances and disciplinary processes, including investigations, chairing hearings and issuing sanctions in line with the LRA and company policy
Manage CCMA matters, including resolution, representation and preparation support
Oversee performance management, including KPI tracking, contracting, reviews, PIPs and incapacity proceedings
Administer leave policies in compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), including annual, sick, family responsibility, maternity and unpaid leave
Drive employee wellness and engagement initiatives, including engagement planning and workload management
Guide recruitment and onboarding activities across all levels
Implement and optimise an HRIS, and maintain accurate HR records
Compile monthly HR metrics and reports
Support Employment Equity planning, reporting and committee facilitation
Coordinate skills development and training needs
Manage alumni communications
Minimum Requirements
Postgraduate or undergraduate qualification in Human Resource Management or a related field
Current SABPP registration at HR Practitioner level or higher (non-negotiable)
5+ years’ experience in a generalist HR role, including senior HRBP or HR management experience
Solid, demonstrable knowledge of South African labour legislation: LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA and OHSA
Proven track record in conducting disciplinary hearings, resolving grievances and managing complex ER matters
Experience representing an organisation at the CCMA
Experience developing HR policies and people strategy
Experience administering and interpreting leave policies in line with BCEA requirements
Exposure to HR in international or multi-country environments (UK exposure preferred)
Advantageous
Payroll experience or exposure to payroll systems (e.g., Sage Payroll, Simple Pay)
