Our client is seeking an experienced Group Project Manager to provide strategic leadership and manage project capabilities that enable the successful execution of multi-disciplinary system projects. The role will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope and budget, while also supporting business development across the organisation's product range and project capabilities.
The successful candidate will lead the project office, oversee Project Managers, establish effective project governance and drive project execution, commercial performance, engineering design and customer engagement within a mining and minerals processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to the project office and project management capabilities.
Develop and maintain policies, standards and procedures for project-related activities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, national safety legislation and customer-specific safety requirements.
Ensure project-specific safety procedures and risk assessments receive the required customer approvals before implementation.
Maintain compliance with ISO Quality Management System requirements and contractual quality standards.
Ensure all contractual obligations are clearly understood and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
Establish and maintain effective project cost management systems to monitor project costs, progress and profitability.
Ensure supplier quotations and selections comply with contractual and commercial requirements.
Oversee Project Managers to ensure projects and programmes are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
Develop and implement project execution strategies and delivery plans.
Define project office scope, objectives, goals and deliverables aligned with business requirements.
Establish and maintain a robust project governance framework.
Prioritise and align projects to maximise operational efficiency and resource utilisation.
Identify project opportunities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Compile project budgets and commercial proposals.
Coordinate site surveys, measurements and scanning activities to support conceptual designs and accurate project costing.
Review and approve proposal drawings, costings and project schedules.
Evaluate technical and commercial risks associated with tenders and proposals.
Facilitate the involvement of internal and external subject matter experts to enhance engineering and design capability.
Review and approve conceptual, process and engineering designs where required.
Manage project issues, risks and dependencies and ensure appropriate mitigation and resolution plans are implemented.
Select, allocate and manage resources across the project office and individual projects.
Drive continuous improvement across project management processes, systems and delivery methodologies.
Support business development initiatives related to the product range and project capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications
Advanced Diploma, BTech equivalent or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Minerals Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Formal Project Management qualification.
Mechanical Engineering qualification and Pr Eng registration would be a distinct advantage.
Experience
Minimum 10 years' Project Management experience within an EPC, EPCM or multi-disciplinary engineering project environment.
Minimum 5 years' experience managing a department or project management function.
Strong experience in project execution, delivery, governance, cost management and commercial risk.
Proven experience within the mining and minerals processing environment.
In-depth understanding of ore processing and equipment and solutions used to improve processing performance.
Demonstrated experience managing project teams and multidisciplinary resources.
Strong understanding of the complete project management lifecycle, methodologies, techniques and tools.
