Job Description - Interior Designer (Corporate)

A reputable and established family office is seeking a structured and creative mid -level Interior Designer to join their team on a 6 to 12 -month fixed -term contract basis. This position plays a pivotal role in designing, managing, and delivering diverse interior projects, including new workplace layouts, refurbishments, and aesthetic updates across the portfolio.

The successful candidate will manage spatial planning and interior design concepts for both corporate office environments and hospitality spaces. Additionally, the role involves providing design input for temporary installations, events, and conferences to ensure cohesive branding and a professional guest experience. This contract opportunity requires a reliable professional who is comfortable travelling to various locations within the organisation's portfolio. Position is based in Illovo, Sandton with some travel to Western Cape. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Interior Project Delivery: Support and deliver interior design work across all office and hospitality entities, managing refurbishments, room refreshes, and ongoing design updates.

  • Concept Development & Styling: Create comprehensive design concepts, mood boards, functional layouts, finishes, furniture selections, and decorative styling recommendations.

  • Space Planning: Conduct thorough space planning to ensure corporate interiors remain highly practical, professional, brand -aligned, and suited to business operations.

  • Event and Conference Design: Provide design input for events and conferences, developing room layouts, staging, furniture, décor, and visual branding touchpoints to optimize the guest experience.

  • Supplier & Contractor Liaison: Interface with suppliers, contractors, installers, and service providers to source interior items, obtain competitive quotations, and coordinate on -site project delivery.

  • Design Documentation: Prepare professional design presentations, detailed specifications, schedules, and supporting documentation for stakeholder review and final approval.

  • Brand Governance: Ensure all interior outputs align strictly with the organisation’s brand guidelines, quality benchmarks, and functional standards.

  • Asset & Record Management: Maintain organised design reference files, supplier information databases, and office interior asset records.



Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Spatial Design, or a related field.

  • Mid -level interior design experience, with a proven track record working on corporate offices, commercial interiors, or workplace design.

  • A strong, professional portfolio demonstrating experience in concept development, space planning, material finishes, furniture selection, and project implementation.

  • Sound practical understanding of materials, finishes, lighting, spatial planning, and supplier coordination.

  • A valid driver's licence and ownership of a reliable personal vehicle to facilitate required travel across the various portfolio locations[cite: 6, 7].

  • Strong visual design sense, excellent attention to detail, and a highly organised approach to managing multiple design deliverables simultaneously.

Desirable Requirements

  • Interior design experience supporting events, conferences, hospitality projects, or temporary interior installations.
