Job Overview

A well‑established engineering company is seeking a Junior Technician to support the manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and servicing of instrumentation and control systems used in the mining industry. This role combines workshop‑based assembly with on‑site technical work at mines across South Africa and other African countries.

Ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on electronics, problem‑solving, and fieldwork.





Key Responsibilities



  • Assemble, wire, test, and configure electronic control and monitoring systems.

  • Install and commission systems on mine sites (surface and underground).

  • Fit sensors and instrumentation to mechanical structures in demanding environments (heat, grease, heights).

  • Perform fault‑finding, maintenance, and technical support (telephonic and on‑site).

  • Conduct system audits and complete related documentation.

  • Assist with ordering components and preparing quotations.

  • Travel extensively across South Africa and neighbouring countries.

  • Participate in standby rotation (approx. one week per month).






Requirements

Minimum Requirements



  • N6 / Technical Matric in Industrial Electronics or similar qualification.

  • Strong logical and methodical fault‑finding ability.

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PC assembly/configuration).

  • Practical experience in instrumentation or a related technical field.

  • Good command of English (written and verbal).

  • Valid driver’s licence + reliable transport.

  • Must pass: criminal, debt, and drug checks.

  • Must pass a full mine medical (surface & underground).

  • R15 000 – R18 000 per month (experience‑dependent).

  • 3‑month probation period.

  • Travel reimbursement at AA rates; car allowance once independent.
