Junior Field Technician

Job Overview

A growing technical services company is seeking a Junior Field Technician to install, service, maintain, and repair vending machines, water coolers, and hot beverage equipment. This role requires hands‑on mechanical and electronic skills, strong problem‑solving ability, and the willingness to perform manual labour and travel extensively.

Ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, customer interaction, and technical troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport, move, and install large vending and beverage machines.
  


• Operate and maintain a company service vehicle.
  


• Perform all work safely and according to company procedures.
  


• Use lifting/moving equipment and power tools.
  


• Train machine operators and customers when required.
  


• Conduct electronic repairs down to component level, including:
  




• Reading schematics
  


• Using a multimeter
  


• Soldering
  


• Basic software programming
  




• Perform electrical repairs and fault‑finding on motors, solenoids, and power supplies.
  


• Maintain service records, reports, and spare parts inventory.
  


• Ensure the service vehicle is clean and inspected regularly.
  


• Wear company‑approved uniform while on duty.
  

Working Conditions

• Work independently with minimal supervision.
  


• Manual labour required.
  


• Extensive travel required.
  

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Experience repairing or maintaining vending machines (advantageous).
  


• Strong electronic and mechanical repair skills.
  


• Basic plumbing knowledge.
  


• Experience with domestic appliances.
  


• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
  


• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
  


• Valid driver’s licence.
  


• Technical qualification in Electronics, Electrical, or Electromechanical fields (minimum NQF Level 2).
