Junior Graphic Designer

UCOOK is looking for a creative and technically capable Junior Graphic Designer to join our growing marketing team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role is based at our office in Woodstock, Cape Town.

This is a fast-paced, execution-focused role centred on e-commerce and digital marketing, with a strong focus on creating and adapting creative for paid media, social media, email, website and other digital channels, alongside packaging, POS and other brand collateral.Strong digital design and video editing skills are key, as video plays an increasingly important role in our paid and organic content. The ability to work quickly, manage multiple creative variations and maintain a high standard of execution is essential in the pace of e-commerce.

This role is ideal for an entry-level designer looking to hone their execution skills while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

Core Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

1.Digital and Video

• Create and adapt creative for paid media, social media, email, website and other digital channels.


• Create and edit short-form video for social media, Paid Ads, and digital campaigns.


• Adapt existing creative across formats and placements.


• Apply UCOOK’s Brand Guides consistently across all assets.

2.Campaign & Brand Creative

• Work from creative briefs to produce accurate, polished and technically suitable final assets.


• Collaborate with the Design Lead and wider marketing team to deliver creative assets according to the brief and deadline.


• Contribute to creative brainstorms and concept development.

3.Administration

• Manage multiple briefs and deadlines in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.


• Prepare and organise final artwork and video files for delivery across different channels.


• Maintain a sensible filing and back-up system for all creative files, in accordance with UCOOK’s drive policy.


• Stay up to date with relevant design tools, software and digital trends to improve creative output and efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant qualification in Graphic Design.


• Entry-level role, with 1–2 years’ relevant experience advantageous.


• Experience in digital design and video is essential; POS, packaging and print experience advantageous.


• Strong portfolio demonstrating quality execution across a range of marketing assets.

Functional Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.


• Video editing skills in Premiere Pro; After Effects experience advantageous.


• Ability to apply existing brand guidelines accurately across multiple platforms.


• Competent in Google Workspace; project management tools advantageous.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently to deadlines.


• Comfortable receiving feedback and making amends efficiently.


• Familiarity with social media and digital advertising formats.
