Junior Metrology Application Engineer

Overview:

Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Application Engineer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality 3D scanning, 3D printing, and reverse engineering services. Additionally, they will be responsible for the calibration of various precision machines and providing general assistance to the senior metrology application engineer. Key Responsibilities:

3D Scanning Services:

• Operate and maintain 3D scanning equipment to capture high-accuracy data from physical objects.
• Assist in preparing objects for scanning, ensuring proper alignment and environmental conditions for optimal scanning results.
• Process and analyse scan data to generate 3D models for further applications.

3D Printing Services:

• Assist in preparing 3D print files, ensuring correct settings, material selection, and machine configuration.
• Operate 3D printers, monitor print progress, and troubleshoot issues that arise during printing.
• Post-process printed parts, including cleaning, curing, and final finishing.

Reverse Engineering Services:

• Support reverse engineering projects by generating accurate 3D models from scanned data for part replication or redesign.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to optimize designs for manufacturing and 3D printing.

Calibration of Machines:

• Perform calibrations of various machines including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), 3D printers, 3D scanners, and both MPC (Measurement Process Control) and APC (Automated Process Control) systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve calibration issues, ensuring equipment accuracy and compliance with internal quality standards.
• Maintain calibration logs and documentation for compliance purposes.

General Assistance:

• Provide general support to the Senior Metrology Application Engineer on various projects.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues, conducting testing, and data analysis as required.
• Help maintain and organize laboratory and workshop areas to ensure smooth operations and a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Quality Inspection Certificate (to the candidates advantage)

Skills:

Experience & Technical Skills:

• Basic understanding of QC Inspection.
• Familiarity with 3D printing processes (FDM, SLA, SLS) is to your advantage
• Basic knowledge of 3D scanning technologies and equipment is to your advantage
• Experience with CMMs and calibration equipment is a plus
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) is to your advantage.
• Drivers License (Mandatory)
