The Role
Newcastle Law School seeks to appoint 2 Lecturers in Law (Teaching & Research; Grade F) to join our forward thinking, inclusive Russell Group Law School that seeks to embed its values in all that it does: Challenge; Social Justice; Compassion; Wellbeing; Excellence; Responsibility; and Respect.
We are looking for passionate researchers and educators. You should have an emerging national/international research profile and a clear research trajectory. Your research should engage with socially relevant and important questions that address current and future problems. Potential for engaging with the research funding landscape and/or potential for engagement with external stakeholders and partnerships to deliver real world impact and benefit through your research is also desirable. In terms of teaching, you must be able to contribute to teaching across one or more of the following foundational legal knowledge subjects - Contract Law, Land Law, Equity, Tort Law or UK & EU. Alternatively, you should be able to contribute to the delivery of Family Law, the Law of Evidence or be able to contribute to our planned programme development - Law with Criminology LLB (specifically with experience of teaching criminology/criminal justice focused modules). Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests align with the required area of teaching expertise.
Newcastle Law School is a globally connected, locally rooted and compassionate community. We embrace diversity and advance social justice by addressing contemporary and future challenges through our research, our scholarship, our engagement with partners, and as a lasting impact of our legal education. We are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, a city with a wide variety of cultural, social and leisure offering, with outstanding schools and close proximity to beautiful nature and heritage sites. We want to appoint someone who shares our values, and who will work with us to realise them across all our areas of activity. We are particularly interested in the strengths and lived experiences of researchers from different ethnic groups and cultures to broaden the diversity of Newcastle Law School, as we strive to avoid perpetuating biases and oversights on legal research and legal education.
