Purpose of Role:

To load rubber and metal in moulds and place in press machines in order to produce molded parts according to set specifications

To set up Vulco moulds to the job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

 

Safety First:

.Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

·Maintain the safety of all systems and processes in the Isando Foundry and implement world class safety practices as guided by the Health and Safety department and senior management

 

Technical:

 

·       Identify workload Refer to job card for type of rubber & metal to be used, weight, and curing time.     

·       Read from Engineering drawings. Prepare rubber & metal to be loaded. Collect rubber and metal from designated areas. Ensure that the rubber is of the correct compound and weight. Ensure metal is of the correct quality. Load mould ensure that the moulds are clean. Load material into moulds

·       Ensure that the rubber is lined properly. Load mould into press

 

Operations

 

· Record curing time as per job card. Perform routine inspection / checks on the press machine to ensure that it is in a good working condition i.e.  Temperature, oil leaks, etc. Report any irregularities to the team leader

· Prepare material for next load (repeat step 1 and 2). Remove moulds from the press using a crane or winch. Place mould on platform and strip. Remove access rubber and perform quality inspection.

 

Quality

 

· Record quality findings . Deliver final product to finishing area for trimming and/or repairs. Prepare rubber and metal for the next shift. Set up Vulco moulds for Vulco jobs. Ensure Vulco moulds are in good condition and report any defects. Ensure Vulco moulds are properly stored after use. Ensure Vulco moulds are cleaned after use. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.

 

Adherence

 

· Identify any potential hazards and risks. To adhere to required protective clothing rules and ensure    appropriate PPE is worn at all times. Report unsafe conditions to Shift Leader. Maintain demarcation lines in area of work. Stack items in allocated areas and in a safe manner. Attend compulsory safe start / green are meetings at the beginning of every shift.

· Adhere to the environmental policies, procedures and practices. Ensure that equipment is in good working condition before use. Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

 

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

 

· Matric (Grade 12); or 6 to 12 months related experience and/or training in manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1 years’ experience working with Presses would be an added advantage.
