Job Description - OT Network Cabling Technician

The main function of the Network Cabling Technician is to install, troubleshoot, and maintain data cables and copper and fiber cabling infrastructure as per the standards of the organizations where they work

Assemble and arrange material and equipment

Explain and verify service orders, drawings, specifications, particular needs, and instructions

Run, pull, stop and splice copper and fiber optic cables, such as CAT5, SE, CAT6, low voltage cables, and fiber

Mount telecommunication equipment while adhering to best practices, industry standards, and manufacturer requirements

Aid in arranging routers

Install support structures, including racks, ladders, j-hooks, and switches using data provided by all teams within the organisation Performing maintenance on existing cabling systems.

Testing newly installed or relocated cables according to company specifications.

Identifying and removing redundant cabling.

Installing of routers and internet technology devices.

Troubleshooting issues with the cable network.

Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.

Requirements

Knowledge and skills

Strong knowledge of mathematics, science, and electrical systems.

Ability to work in cramped spaces.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Installation of premises and outside plant fiber optic cable

Proven work experience as Cable Technician

Qualifications

Completed Grade 12

Relevant Information Technology Certifications/Qualifications Experience

2 years relevant technical experience Physical Requirements:

Transportation

Drivers Licence

Own Car
