Payroll Clerk

This is a hands-on entry role into payroll and HR where you will gain meaningful exposure from day one. Working alongside an experienced Group Payroll Specialist, you will build practical skills across payroll, HR, and Finance in a global, fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Payroll operations

• Process payroll accurately and on time, in line with established schedules

• Maintain accurate payroll records, including timekeeping, leave balances, and employee data

• Run validation and quality checks to ensure data integrity

• Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and statutory reporting

• Generate payroll reports for management and Finance

• Support benefits administration, including enrolment changes and employee queries

• Ensure compliance with South African tax, labour, and statutory requirements

HR & employee support

· Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a smooth employee experience 

· Maintain accurate employee records across HR systems 

· Respond to payroll and benefits queries in a professional and timely manner

· Partner with HR and managers to ensure data accuracy and aligned processes

Systems & data

• Keep payroll and HR systems (including Paylocity) accurate and up to date

• Support continuous improvement of payroll processes

• Handle confidential employee information with care and discretion

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Requirements:

• A diploma or degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field — or currently completing one

• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with sensitive, confidential information

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)

• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines

Preferences: 

• Up to 3 years’ experience in payroll or HR administration

• Exposure to Paylocity or a similar HRIS

• Experience supporting payroll in a multi-country or global environment

• Familiarity with the employee lifecycle

Work schedule: This is a hybrid position requiring 2 days in office.
