The Old Mutual Wealth Investment and Fund Solutions team is responsible for the design, development and ongoing maintenance of Old Mutual’s range of retail linked investment funds.
In addition, the team is responsible for managing the range of internal and external funds available on the Old Mutual platforms. The team works closely with the various Old Mutual Wealth operational areas to contribute to the smooth functioning of the Old Mutual Wealth investment platform and systems.
We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced individual to join this team of high calibre professionals. In this exciting and important role it will be possible to make a big contribution to Old Mutual Wealth’s business strategy and performance, to Old Mutual’s investment propositions and to work in a fast-paced, innovative and challenging environment.
Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:
Product and Solution Development
- Development & maintenance of the range of Old Mutual Wealth collective investment scheme portfolios, inclusive of regulatory and operational processes to establish new funds, make changes to existing funds and merge funds,.
Regulatory, Legal and Industry
- Maintain relationships relating to the Old Mutual Wealth collective investment scheme portfolios with the FSCA, ASISA, Auditors and our Trustee.
- Keep abreast or regulatory developments insofar as they relate to the collective investment scheme industry.
- Participate in or contribute to ASISA sub-committees where appropriate.
- Facilitate drafting and submission of regulatory applications, as well as agreements, client facing documentation and client correspondence in support of our product development initiatives. This includes supplemental deeds, investment management agreements, investment mandates, ASISA mandates and Minimum Disclosure Documents.
Implementation
- Manage and drive implementation and the operationalization of fund development & maintenance projects e.g. new fund launches, CIS ballots, mandate changes, client communications, as well as related asset transitions.
- Build strong, sustainable working relationships with various functional areas, including operations, legal, risk, compliance, finance, tax and marketing.
- Strong focus on detail and delivery across various workstreams.
Needs Assessment
- Maintain a framework to assess the scope and context of short- and long-term business needs from a product development and implementation perspective
- Track and report on TCF Outcomes during product development and regulatory processes.
Business Casing:
- Review product development business cases; make evidence-based recommendations on the initiation, prioritisation, implementation date and/or termination of projects.
Innovation Strategy, Pipeline, and Road Map
- Lead the implementation of the innovation road map, ensuring the right resources are in place to execute on the innovation strategy across the various stages of the pipeline.
Culture of Innovation and Development
- Participate in nurturing a culture of innovation within the team by staying abreast of global trends and developments and by supporting team members to innovate through idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
- Support business and teams in the development of new innovations in product and service initiatives, acting as a collective investment scheme subject matter expert.
- Ensure that the right resources are in place to execute on the innovation initiatives that have touching points with our collective investment schemes.
Personal Capability Building
- Develop into subject matter expert in collective investment schemes.
- Maintain external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Candidates should have a suitable qualification (product / business / legal or compliance).
- 5+ years applicable product / business / legal / compliance experience.
- A passion for product development with specific insights into collective investment schemes
- Ability to work independently, with initiative and in a fluid environment.
- Ability to successfully juggle several projects and priorities at once.
- Strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
