Relief Lodge Manager – Hazyview

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and capable Relief Lodge Manager to join a prestigious luxury game reserve in Hazyview, Mpumalanga.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional with strong operational experience who is confident stepping into a leadership role and ensuring the smooth running of the lodge in the absence of the permanent management team.

Key Responsibilities

  Assume responsibility for the overall lodge operation during relief periods.

  Maintain high standards of luxury hospitality and guest service.

  Oversee daily lodge operations, ensuring all departments function efficiently.

  Lead, support and motivate the lodge team, fostering a professional and positive working environment.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Monitor guest satisfaction and ensure that individual guest needs are consistently anticipated and met.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with staff management, including scheduling, performance and operational support.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Ensure lodge standards, procedures and company policies are consistently maintained.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with departmental heads to ensure seamless communication and operational continuity.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with stock control, cost management and general administrative duties.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Handle guest queries, concerns and operational challenges professionally and efficiently.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Maintain strong relationships with guests, staff and suppliers.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Represent the property in a professional manner at all times.
  
  

  
  

Requirements

• 
  

  Previous experience in a Lodge Manager, Relief Lodge Manager, Assistant Lodge Manager or similar senior hospitality position.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Experience within a luxury lodge, game reserve or safari environment would be highly advantageous.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent guest relations and communication abilities.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to remain calm, professional and decisive under pressure.
  
  

  
  


• 
  

  A hands-on approach to lodge operations.
