Job Description - 1st Line Technical Support Engineer ( Based in the Greenstone area, East Johannesburg)

1st Line IT Support Engineer

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa (Hybrid – 2 -3 days per week in the office)
Office Location: Based in the Greenstone area, East Johannesburg
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 18:00 UK working Hours
Reports To: Service Desk Manager

Overview
Our client is seeking a proactive and customer -focused 1st Line IT Support Engineer to
join their growing IT support team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational IT
experience and a keen interest in delivering excellent first -line technical support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving common technical issues,
supporting end users remotely, and escalating more complex cases to the L2 team where
necessary.
Working within a collaborative technical support environment, this position offers an
excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their IT support career while
gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies and client environments.

Key Responsibilities
● Provide first -line support to users via phone, email, and remote support tools.
● Troubleshoot and resolve issues across desktop, server, network, and cloud
environments.
● Log, manage, and own support requests through to resolution or escalation.
● Communicate with users in a clear, professional, and friendly manner at all times.
● Assist with procurement queries, software licensing, and general IT advice.
● Maintain documentation and knowledge base articles.
● Set up and configure new desktops, laptops, and printers.

What We Are Looking For
● 1 -2 years of experience in an IT support role (MSP experience desirable but not
essential).
● Solid understanding of Windows 10/11 and macOS.
● Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
● Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
● A logical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and problem -solving skills.
● Excellent customer service skills and a professional telephone manner.

● Ability to prioritise and manage your own workload.
● A team player with a positive, proactive attitude.
● Ability to be flexible and work to changing priorities.
