2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer
Location: Cape Town (Remote role, but must be based in Cape Town)
Hours: 6 am – 3 pm UK working Hours
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced 2nd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer to join
their growing IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive infrastructure
professional who enjoys troubleshooting, supporting critical systems, and working across a
predominantly Microsoft-based environment.
The successful candidate will provide second-line infrastructure support, assisting with the
maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation of servers, networks, and end-user technologies.
Working closely with senior technical colleagues, you will play a key role in ensuring
Business-critical systems remain secure, reliable, and available.
Key Responsibilities
â Provide Level 2 support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
â Diagnose and resolve issues across Windows Server environments, Active Directory,
Group Policy and Microsoft 365.
â Monitor and maintain core infrastructure services, including backups, patch
management, and endpoint security solutions.
â Investigate networking issues involving DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
â Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers or third-party vendors when
required.
â Maintain accurate technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base
articles.
â Support hardware deployments, upgrades, and routine infrastructure maintenance.
â Collaborate with Service Desk and wider IT teams to ensure timely resolution of
tickets and incidents.
â Assist with ongoing infrastructure improvement projects and technology upgrades.
Essential Skills & Experience
â Minimum of 3 years of experience within a Level 2 Support, Infrastructure Support, or
similar technical role.
â Strong knowledge of:
â Windows Server
â Active Directory
â Group Policy
â Microsoft 365
â Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, and
TCP/IP.
â Experience supporting physical and virtual infrastructure environments.
â Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
â Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
â Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Skills & Experience
â Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam.
â Exposure to endpoint security and monitoring platforms.
â Knowledge of VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
â Experience supporting Cisco Meraki networking solutions.
â Relevant industry certifications, such as:
â Microsoft Certifications
â CompTIA A+
â CompTIA Network+
â CompTIA Server+
