THE ROLE: MECHANICAL ENGINEER

The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of major water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, contributing to projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, the role will contribute to developing engineering solutions while ensuring designs are technically robust, cost-effective and compliant with industry standards. The Mechanical Engineer will also play a central role in shaping project outcomes, mentoring junior engineers and driving design quality across multidisciplinary teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities and associated infrastructure.

• Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, technical reports and schedules.

• Develop mechanical layouts, equipment selections and design documentation.

• Support the delivery of projects through feasibility, outline and detailed design phases.

• Coordinate with civil, electrical, process and ICA disciplines to produce integrated design solutions.

• Assist with site inspections, surveys, commissioning and construction support activities.

• Ensure designs comply with client specifications, industry standards and health and safety requirements.

• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering exercises.

• Support project managers in delivering projects on programme and within budget.

• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across project delivery.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design quality across multidisciplinary teams.

ABOUT YOU

• 3–6 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role.

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Experience producing mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities and associated infrastructure.

• Experience preparing engineering calculations, specifications, technical reports and schedules.

• Ability to develop mechanical layouts, equipment selections and design documentation.

• Experience supporting projects through feasibility, outline and detailed design phases.

• Ability to coordinate with civil, electrical, process and ICA disciplines to produce integrated design solutions.

• Experience assisting with site inspections, surveys, commissioning and construction support activities.

• Ability to ensure designs comply with client specifications, industry standards and health and safety requirements.

• Experience participating in design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering exercises.

• Ability to support project managers in delivering projects on programme and within budget.
